Hornet Man's Sex Change

A random tidbit: Apparently the Mega Man 9 boss Hornet Man was conceived of as a she-bot named “Honey Woman.” The designers eventually decided that two female Robot Masters (Robot Mistresses?) would me too big a departure and Honey Woman’s gynoid parts became android ones.


Funny, I would have thought the likely robo he-she would have been Jewel Man. In any case, I would love to see concept art of Honey Woman, if only to see what we missed out on.

Also, it’s interesting to hear the programmers’ logic, even if it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Also: “Splash Woman”? “Honey Woman”? I wonder if subsequent Mega Man games with subsequent Robot Mistresses shall have descriptor names that all look like they came from cosmetic bottles?
