And then I realized that Amy Sedaris as Hurshe Heartshe on The Heart, She Holler looks more or less like a real-life, human version of Lil from Squidbillies, sloppy lines and all. I can’t tell if it’s a result of Adult Swim cross-promotion or just that there’s a certain aesthetic for that sloppy truckstop waitress who clearly puts a great deal of effort into looking like a slopcrundle.

Points for Lil, however: the Hedwig-esque hairdo.

The Family That Slays Together

While watching the first and last episodes of the third season of Venture Bros. with Jesse last night, I was suddenly struck with the realization that this show seems weirdly overpopulated with redheaded characters.

And that’s leaving out Dean and Jonas Jr., both of whom have that kind of brown hair that looks kinda-sorta red. But they’re related to Dr. Venture and therefore less notable. And, of course, there’s apparently a popular theory that Venture and Quymn are actually siblings as well. Still, the fact that the family patriarch, his arch-enemy, and the series femme fatale would all have red hair is a little weird.

Baby Geishas and a Coin Purse Clam

In an effort to prove that the inspiration for the short-lived TV show "The Oblongs" was funnier than the show itself might indicate, I recently led an associate to the personal website of the show's creator, Angus Oblong. The site, as I correctly remembered, is nicely laid out and fairly funny. Two highlights: the result of clicking a link marked "something you haven't seen before" and the complete story of Helga and the Debbies, in which a fat, ugly girl gets her revenge on those more fortunate.
