And here’s the Japanese version, which truncates that title simply to Shit:
That title is no misnomer: According to Hardcore Gaming 101, the game is an example of a kusoge. Literally translating from Japanese as “shit game” or “shitty game,” the term refers to a purposefully bad game that is meant to be enjoyed in a campy way. Think of hipsters watching Mama’s Family and you get the idea. But be honest: How many times have you been playing actual Pac-Man or one of its less shitty knock-offs and met your death-by-ghost-touch in a dark, dot-lined hallway and exclaimed simply “Shit!”?
Honest question: I wonder which is worse (or better, I guess): The box art or the game?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I absolutely love the Euro box art. Can you imagine a kid picking that up and bringing it home, only to discover that the game is some sort of lame Pac-Man clone?
Being that he art has value and the game doesn't, I'm going to have to say the art's better. I mean, here we are discussing it.
ReplyDeleteMama's Family is a GREAT SHOW! Its probably one of the funniest sit coms ever on TV. Certainly better than Friends of Sienfeld.
ReplyDeleteI dunno. Friends of Seinfeld is a pretty popular show.
