Dracula, Blacula, and Son of Kong
Every movie I've rented through Netflix, beginning with the most recent. Anything especially good is linked to the corresponding page on Netflix.

What did you think of I Spit on Your Grave?
ReplyDeleteOn I Spit on Your Grave: Meh. Not as graphic as it's reputed to be. As Bartholomew J. Simpson himself once said, even Friday the 13th Part One is pretty tame by today's standards. It's a little interesting to think about whether it's a feminist film or not. (The working title for it is Day of the Woman.) But on the whole, it's just not worth that much mental energy, I found. In fact, until you asked me, I never even verbalized an opinion about it.
ReplyDeleteOK, it's sort of ok that you don't "blue" Blow Out, A History of Violence, Sunset Boulevard, Citizen Kane, and Dr. Strangelove. But not to say Touch of Evil is as good as Xanadu....
ReplyDeleteMeh. For undisputable greats like Sunset Boulevard and Dr. Strangelove, I didn't think it was necessary to link them, just because everybody generally thinks they're great and what good is my piddly recommendation going to do? However, with some — like the Annie Hall-Taxi Driver-8 1/2 triumvirate of greatness — is decided to link in spite of their fame because I actually thought they were that outstanding. For stuff like Touch of Evil, I recognized that it was good but it didn't blow me away as much as I had hoped. An inconsistent system, yes, but about as stringent as I felt like making.
