Actually Made in England

Everything about this song and video: stereotypical, dumbfounding, bizarre, characteristic of the worst of the 80s, reminiscent of a “Deep House Dish” parody song, awful, wonderful. Ladies and gentlemen: Nanacy Nova’s 1982 hit, “Made in Japan.”

Also, any kind of dancing it makes me want to do is also stereotypical, dumbfounding, bizarre, characteristic of the worst of the 80s and reminiscent of “Deep House Dish.”

For the studious among you, this is the chorus:
Nissan Datsun Japanese-y
Panasonic Mitsubishi
Take your business nice and easy
Ah so it goes
Akai Sanyo Ti-ak Sony
Yamahaha nice headphonee
Nikon for your one and only
Get one of those
Kawasaki — ride it solo
Sukiyaki — nice kimomno
Honda bikey — Yoko Ono
Everyone knows
Buy one of those
How well it goes
Lucky you chose
Something with the name
"Made in japan" (Ah so, ah so)

  1. Oy.

Strange, too ~ although all things could be considered strange or normal, depending, rummaging through coincidences among words ~ that there's a tangential thing, a much earlier song called "The Japanese Sandman" by a fellow named Paul Whiteman.
