Because a true music fan has been with the band every since the early days.

“I’ve been listening to Lady Gaga ever since she was Stefani Germanotta.”

“I’ve been listening to Peter, Bjorn and John ever since they were Peter, Bjorn, Sven and Lorna.”

“I’ve been listening to Maroon 5 ever since they were Kara’s Flowers.”

  1. But Frank Black is back to being Black Francis on his most recent albums, so that hypothetical person could actually be a quite recent fan.

  2. Yeah, I thought about that, but it was too awkward to straighten out for the purposes of this post. Also, since we're being technical, the hypothetical fan could have also stopped listening before the reversion to Black Francis.
