Push Harder, Harry Potter!

In the last installment of “Ha Ha — This Person’s Name,” I expressed my reservations about mocking the names of people from countries where English may not be the predominant language. After all, it’s not your fault if your name happens to mean something awful in someone else’s language. I’d bet that someone, somewhere thinks my name sounds like something profane or embarrassing.

Something I have fewer reservations about, however, is noting humor in the names of the recently dead. Case in point: Hyman Golden, co-founder of Snapple, who passed away on September 14 and whose name, if read in the manner in which it would appear in a phone book, sounds like part of a title to some porny Harry Potter fanfic.
